What Is a Vibration Therapy Device?
A vibration therapy device is a powered tool that produces repeated mechanical vibration. Consumer products vary significantly in frequency, amplitude and intended use.
Frequency and speed
Frequency describes how often motion repeats. Product pages may express this as hertz (cycles per second) or vibrations per minute (VPM).
Amplitude
Amplitude describes movement distance. Two devices can have similar speed figures but feel very different if their stroke lengths differ.
Vibration versus percussion
Percussion devices generally use a larger reciprocating stroke. High-frequency vibration devices may use much smaller movement at a higher repetition rate.
Safety first
Follow the device's instructions and contraindications. Avoid using recovery devices as a substitute for diagnosis or treatment of unexplained pain or injury.
