Vibration Therapy vs Percussion Massage
Vibration and percussion are often grouped together as powered massage tools, but their motion and feel can be very different.
The mechanical difference
Rapid Release describes its devices as short-stroke, high-frequency vibration, while conventional massage guns use slower, longer-stroke percussion. The manufacturer's comparison lists 4,000–10,000 VPM and 1/16-inch amplitude for its vibration devices versus 2,100–3,600 RPM and longer stroke for the percussion category it compares against.
Neither mechanism is automatically right for everyone
High-frequency vibration emphasizes speed with a small movement. Percussion emphasizes a larger repeated stroke. Preference depends on desired sensation, body area, use case and individual tolerance.
Questions to ask before buying
Do you want deeper percussive impact or short-stroke vibration? Will you use the tool at home, on the road, or in a professional setting? How important are variable speeds, weight and warranty?
